How does the remote help service work?

As a subscribed member, you simply send me an email detailing your computer problem or an idea of what you want to learn, and I will send you the answer. (If you wish, you may send a 'screen capture' image of the problem.)

In most cases I will send you a step-by-step answer —in writing, often with illustrations, and sometimes with additional research where appropriate. Beginners and intermediate users are my target customer base. If you are unsure and want to know more about the level of cover I can offer you, email me with a list of the programs you regularly use and I will be happy to provide more information.

When contacting me for help, please try to be specific in your questions. for example note the program you are using as well as which Windows version you are using (Win98; WinMe; Win2000, WinXP etc.) Usually you will receive the answer later the same day or next day, depending on your time zone. You may submit questions at any time throughout the year.

YOUR MEMBERSHIP NUMBER should always be shown in the Subject line of your email (see below). Your number will be sent to you on receipt of your subscription payment. (If you do not provide your membership number, your message may be automatically returned to you.)

Can I call you by telephone?

Generally, this service is an email based support service, due to differing time zones. However, by arrangement, it is possible to set up a telephone appointment or on-line dialogue via Skype (see below) or MSN Messenger. I can also set up a remote control session on your PC if you wish.
